Brown Line 3 Station

April 10 2015

Chicago, Illinois
This project included the demolition and construction of additions and new structures and facilities for the rapid transit stations at Armitage Sedgwick and Chicago on the Ravenswood (Brown) Line. The construction consisted of new station houses; steel platforms including wood deck, power and communication systems; fire alarms; elevators; train control and signals; restoration of historic platform canopies, etc. Each station remained in service and operational throughout the reconstruction. This required the construction of temporary station houses, customer assistant kiosks, platforms, railings, lighting, public address systems, fare collection systems, train control and signal systems, signage, stairs, etc. Tight coordination was required and included several weekends of taking a 200 foot section of platform out of service on a Friday night, demolishing the platform while it was out of service and completing the new installation prior to the start of train service early on Monday morning.
